After a couple weeks of playing family board games over the holidays, we finally made it back into our Friday Boardgame Night groove with a couple of dice games. Everyone who knows me, knows my love for dice themed boardgames! Here’s what we played….
I really enjoyed this game. Each player gets a large gameboard and 6 different colored dice, red, yellow, green, blue, white and black. Each row represents one of the colored dice with 6 squares containing various resources, armies, wood, stone, coal, victory points etc. Players roll the dice and place each in the appropriate square on their board. They then use the resources below their dice to purchase more powerful buildings and/or attack other players or bandits. Victory points are gained from the buildings within your city as well as those from attacking bandits or players. The player with the most VP at the end of the game is the winner. I scored a very lopsided victory for our first game, but future plays should be more balanced.
We liked this game so much that we played it 3 times tonite! Quick, and easy to play, Favor of the Pharaoh is a dice manipulation game where players purchase various building tiles to gain additional dice or benefits. Players race to roll 7 of a kind and take the Queen tile for a special benefit, then a final roll off for the Pharaoh’s favor begins! A good game to play with the family, even the younger ones!
